Brian Bassanio Paul is the Campus Manager at National Music Academy Pakistan. He is a musicologist and also teaches musicology for the National Music Academy.
Brian is a reasonable, easy going and at his very core a deeply soulful person. Music has always inspired him as a child, which led him to explore the deeper meaning of the science of sound and music.
Brian started to learn guitar as his principal instrument and is more inclined towards wind and string instruments. He has Master’s degree in Musicology. He harnessed this philosophy and propagated the same till music became his mantra.
His musical inspiration mainly comes from Ustaad Raees Khan, Ustaad Sharif khan Poonchwala, Ustaad, Ustaad Bismillah Khan, Pandit Hari Prasad Churasia, Pandit Shiv Kumar Sharma, Ustaad Allah Rakha and Zakir Hussain, Ustaad Amir Khan, Pandit Rajan and Sajan Mishra, Hussain Baksh Gullo, Ustaad Salamat Ali Khan and the list goes on. He also like Anouskha Shankar and Niladri Kumar, specially his zitar.
Brian seeks music as a scholarly endeavor, which makes him a good teacher for the professional development diploma, musicology section. At National Music Academy, or otherwise, you will mostly find him talking and studying the evolution of music through the ages, national and regional musical styles, philosophy and the psychology of music.
To summarize; he does not simply want to train people in the art of music, he wants to deliver the experience therein – reproducible experiences so that the gift may empower and enthrall his students and friends and remain with them as an experience to reflect upon and cherish.
