Awais Kazmi is a 25-year-old guitarist, song-writer & professional musician based in Lahore, and is one of the Professional Development Diploma teachers at National Music Academy. Awais has been playing and performing guitar since 2006 and has had multiple professional influences contribute to his education. Having deep appreciation for Instrumental Rock, Jazz-Fusion, Metal, and Classical music, Kazmi has produced many originals among which ‘Downside Up’ has received notable recognition. Awais has also made several TV (PTV World, Pashto1) and Radio (FM 92.4, FM100) appearances and won multiple music competitions across the country; his most recent achievement being the instrumental competition at BNU Festival 2017. He has also been invited to various music competitions as chief-guest and judge and has worked with notable artists and platforms such as Walnut Studios and Kuch Khaas. Kazmi recently collaborated with Alhamra Arts Council as part of ‘Alhamra Unplugged Season 1’ – a musical platform promoting young talent from across the country, and is playing Guitar, Leads, Rubab, Bass and Banjo throughout the season. Kazmi has a deep passion for music, and though his integral role in this latest project he aims to become a catalyst in raising awareness and introducing “Jazz Fusion” to the masses of Pakistan. Awais is an intelligent, articulate, and driven teacher, who values artistry, originality and theory-based teaching styles.
